MARIANNE COOK
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Through relationships we find meaning, joy and purpose in life. However, these same relationships can cause pain, leading to maladaptive coping patterns and behaviors that leave us feeling stuck and even numb and disconnected from our true selves.
I provide individual and couples therapy, using a collaborative, strength-based approach to help clients create new ways of understanding and coping with the challenges in life. I have extensive experience treating depression, anxiety and addiction. Depending on the client’s circumstances, I pull from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), mindfulness and solution-focused treatment approaches. I am also well versed in 12-step philosophy. Above all, I am committed to providing a warm, non-judgemental space for clients to embark upon their healing journey.
Prior to embarking on this rewarding career, I was a classically trained violinist who played professionally in NYC. I earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from NYU in 2008 and am licensed to practice in NJ and NY. I am passionate about meditation, nature and the healing power of a good laugh!
